I’ve already posted about the weekly rallies for the release of the hostages. Somehow I’m drawn to this gathering of people who are united by the wish of saving the lives of the Israeli hostages in Gaza. I’m captivated and deeply moved by the faces I see at these rallies – the faces of Israel.
No, they don’t represent all of Israel. But certainly a substantial part if not the majority. These faces show the worrying, the grieving, the agony, and the hope of the people of Israel to get the loved ones back home alive, to find an end to the war.
Rally for the release of the hostages held by the Palestinian terror regime Hamas for 238 days
The emotions are strong. Everybody knows that each minute in the hands of the Palestinian Hamas is a minute in sheer hell. Some of the speakers are released hostages who share their experiences. You can see how difficult it is for them to talk about it, bringing back to memory the worst nightmares anyone can imagine. Those who were taken hostage by the Palestinian terrorists went through torture, deprivation, constant fear of imminent death, sexual abuse, you name it.
I’ve heard survivors of the holocaust share their stories. The stories told by some surviving victims of October 7 are no different. For example, one survivor of the Nova festival massacre was spared from death by the heap of dead bodies that covered her, among those bodies were her closest friends.
Some people would react in anger and fury when hearing these atrocities. But at this weekly rally in Tel Aviv there is no anger, no fury. There is only sadness and pain and the unifying wish that this will be over soon, with a good outcome for the hostages.

Below are some photos from the funeral of Hanan Yablonka who was taken hostage by Hamas at the Nova music festival and probably killed the same day. His body was recovered recently in the Gaza Strip by a special Israel Defense Force (IDF) unit who found three dead bodies at that location. Yablonka’s parents and sisters asked the public to attend the funeral march as a call to put the lives of the hostages above all other goals of the war in Gaza.
